Q&A: Does Texas commercial real estate law require asbestos disclosure?
Aug 30th
Question by Marcey: Does Texas commercial real estate law require asbestos disclosure?
A local small town mayor sold a city owned building through an online auction site but the buyer was not notified that the building had asbestos under the siding. Can you sell any building without that kind of disclosure?
Best answer:
Answer by Glenn S
Generally speaking commercial properties don’t require the same kind of disclosures that a residential property. It is expected that someone who purchases a commercial/industrial property is more knowledgeable than a home buyer and that he has the smarts to first inspect what he is buying. Often times a commercial/industrial buyer doesn’t care because he will be remodeling or modifying it to suit his purposes.
