The Truth About Real Estate Agent Commission Splits.mp4
Jul 17th
If you do the majority of the work, then is 50% really a good split, for anything! Some agents on the island are making commissions as low as 50% and on top of that they are paying desk fees, franchise fees and sometimes even more. What part of that is fair? Why give that much money to your current broker? Do they say it is because they are the brand and you need to work with a branded company? Don’t let your current broker fool you into thinking that it was their branding that got you your sale, it was your hard work. You are the brand, and until you figure that out, you’ll be giving your broker more and more of your hard earned commissions. Talk to agents who have left big companies, they’ll tell you why they don’t go back. Not to mention, The internet has completely leveled the playing field when it comes to marketing, you no longer need to work with a larger company to get the maximum exposure for your listings. Clients understand this and respect you and your decisions, including the brokerage you choose to work with. And believe me, they would rather you take home the more of your commissions, then give it back to your branded broker. So what is the solution—switch brokers, it’s easier than you think– hang your license with someone who doesn’t take more then they deserve, like Hawaii Real Estate Online, LLC.

Markets have demonstrated a solid demand for resale housing in the Ottawa Housing Market. In May the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation stated that the Ottawa Housing Market Outlook transitioned from a seller’s market to a balanced market in 2010 and will remain in that for 2011. CMHC analysts define Ottawa’s resale housing market as balanced when between 35 and 55 per cent of the number of homes listed for sale in a given month are sold. Translated into English, this means that the Ottawa/Carleton region is a good place to be buying or selling residential properties, investment or commercial investments. “Sales numbers for May were virtually unchanged from 2010, but prices continued to rise at about the same rate as we have seen for the past few months, demonstrating solid demand for resale housing in our area,” said Board President Joanne Tibbles. “A balanced market offers no distinct advantage to either buyers or sellers, so I’d advise anyone thinking of buying or selling to work with a local REALTORĀ® to help them achieve their goals.
